If you eat a whole food plant-based diet, you are in good tracks. You should eat mainly vegetables, legumes, plenty of whole grains, fruits, and herbs. If you do so, why are you a fat anyway? There are a few explanations…

You eat more calories than you need

If you have a low metabolism and you have a sitting life, there are good chances to have some extra pounds. You have to eat fewer calories than you burn, elsewhere you’ll gain weight. That’s so simple.

You could be more active. Walk more. Go to work, on foot. Play and run around with your children. Many studies have shown the importance of walking. Twenty minutes a day is good. Thirty is better. Forty is even better. My point is that should walk as much as you can. Is this enough? Of course not…

You eat many calories, especially fats

The most effective way to lose weight is by eating fewer calories.

Start by reducing foods high in fat. Fat has 9 calories per gram. Carbs and protein have only 4 calories per gram (1).

Also, fat from food can be metabolized easily into body fat.

So, avoid vegetable oils, as they are the most calorie-dense food on the planet. If you are in a diet you should avoid them.

Prefer seeds & nuts to lose weight easily

Eat only a few nuts every other day. Fats are important for the functions of the human body. But we need a little amount of them.

Prefer whole nuts and seeds. That’s the best source of healthy dietary fat.

As nuts and seeds are calorie-dense food, better eat only a handful per day. Additionally, seeds and nuts are high in vitamins and minerals, such as zinc. Seeds and nuts are common foods rich in zinc.

Don’t eat vegetable oil if you’re a fat vegan

Moreover, avoid consumption of any vegetable oil. Vegetable oils are highly processed foods actually. They contain no fibers whatsoever. In any case, prefer olive oil or flaxseed oil. Olive oil is rich in polyphenols. Flaxseed oil is the richest food in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s are so important for good health.

Practically:

  • Instead of frying potatoes, try to bake them. Have you tried air-fried sweet potatoes?
  • Avoid vegetable oil.
  • eat only a small handful of nuts and seeds daily.
  • don’t buy processed foods, they tend to be high in fats and sugar. It’s the worst combination.
  • eat huge amounts of salad. Vegetables are low in calories, but they can fill your belly.
  • eat fruits instead of sweets. Fruits and vegetables can keep your skin young, as they have anti-aging properties.

On the contrary, you can eat large amounts of whole foods. Even though they’re high in carbs or protein. For instance, baked potatoes aren’t going to make you fat. They are low in calories, and high in dietary fiber. On the other hand, French fries are bad for weight loss, as they are high in fat.
